Tara and Michael Gallina know a thing or two about farm to table food. As the husband-and-wife team behind James Beard award winner Vicia in St. Louis and Winslow’s Table Market & Bakery in University City, Missouri, the Gallinas continue to extol the virtues of responsibly sourced ingredients.

As they expand their offerings to match easing COVID guidelines, Winslow’s Table is now serving dinner Wednesday through Sunday, with an extra treat: Market Thursdays.

In collaboration with Winslow’s Farm – which is associated with Winslow’s Table but not owned by the Gallinas – and Loving Roots Urban Farm, Market Thursdays will offer the freshest local produce, wine samplings, drink specials and more.

“Last year with the pandemic, we weren’t open, but we were selling stuff online,” Tara Gallina says. “We decided to do an online produce market as a way to connect people with a lot of these farmers that we work with. It was very popular, and people loved it, but it was really hard to manage on our side. We didn’t want to abandon selling produce, but it was just not practical for us to be doing it five days a week.”

Thus, Market Thursdays were born. The weekly event consolidates the produce market into one evening where customers can also stay and sip craft cocktails or grab dinner on the Winslow’s Table patio.

“It’s very casual,” Gallina says. “We’re doing more dinner, pizza by the slice, cheese and charcuterie. There’s a little something for everybody on [the menu]. It’s a fun atmosphere to come check out the market, stay for either a drink or a full meal.”

Market Thursdays run weekly from 4 to 7 p.m. at Winslow’s Table.
