Sincere Congratulations to Michael!!!

Michael Del Pietro is at it again.

The restaurateur, who owns Il Palato, Del Pietro’s, Sugo’s Spaghetteria, Babbo’s Spaghetteria, Tavolo V and Via Vino Enoteca in the St. Louis area, plans to open a new restaurant in Edwardsville, Illinois, this summer. But unlike this other concepts, the new restaurant will break away from his typical Italian fare.

As first reported by St. Louis Magazine, Del Pietro will open a breakfast- and lunch-focused concept that will also be open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. The cuisine will be American-focused with offerings Del Pietro says will be “eclectic;” expect Southern, Southwestern and Asian influences as well at dinner.

The restaurant will also have a full bar including a menu of house cocktails, which Del Pietro says have been popular at Il Palato in Clayton, Missouri.

Del Pietro says the restaurant doesn’t have a name yet, but the current front runner is Blue Violet, which is the state flower of Illinois. The restaurant will be in a new mixed-use development near Southern Illinois University’s campus called The Parkway. It will include a number of condos, office spaces and retail spaces.

Del Pietro says that he has been grateful for the support that he and his team has already had with Sugo’s Spaghetteria, his first restaurant in Edwardsville, so bringing this new concept to the town made sense.

“We’re really excited to be in Edwardsville,” Del Pietro says. “It’s a community like I’ve never been involved with before. If you’re embraced by the community, I think you’re very fortunate.”

The restaurant is expected to open in early June.
