Tony’s is synonymous with outstanding service, and for many St. Louis residents, it’s the place to go for special-occasion meals. Its new location at the state-of-the-art Centene campus in Clayton, Missouri, brings renewed energy and enthusiasm to the lauded restaurant.
“I’m excited to be in Clayton,” says owner James Bommarito. “We do what we do, and we do it well, and I think that will only strengthen the restaurant scene here. Taking care of our guests is still my top priority, and I believe this location and the design of the space will enhance their experience.”

As guests enter the new location of Tony’s at 105 Carondelet Plaza, a sophisticated system takes each person’s temperature and a green light signals that they’re cleared to enter. “We’ve done our research, and we think this is the best system in the country, which will help keep our guests and our employees safe,” says Bommarito.
Once inside, you can sense how special the new space is. To the right of the maître d’ stand, three paintings from Andy Warhol’s Flowers series lead to the main dining room, where a commissioned triptych by California-based painter America Martin, titled “James’ Flowers,” extends across the back wall. The warm-colored, Picasso-esque blooms are a pleasant contrast to the artwork by surrealist Ernest Trova, which lends a more masculine feel to the private dining room at the front of the restaurant.
Sculptures by Dutch ceramic artist Wouter Dam and Turkish artist Ardan Özmenoğlu can also be spotted throughout Tony’s. Even the custom furniture is artistic: The chairs at the tables downstairs are Brno Chairs. Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1930, they’re an iconic 20th-century design. “They’re timeless, beautiful and the most comfortable chair I’ve ever sat in,” says Bommarito. Every choice he’s made for the restaurant, he’s made with the comfort and pleasure of the guest in mind.
Working in harmony with those thoughtfully curated details, the white tablecloths, soft lighting, exquisite bouquets of fresh flowers and custom cherry wood paneling and beams complete the fine-dining feel of the restaurant.

Upstairs, Anthony’s Bar serves lunch, along with dinner after 5pm, in a more casual atmosphere. The décor is still captivating, however, with a painting by the late LeRoy Neiman depicting a lively scene of imbibers at the end of the bar. For added convenience, the bar has its own entrance through a revolving door on Hanley Road.

Although Tony’s and Anthony’s Bar have a fresh footprint, some things haven’t changed, including the signature tableside service and many of the classic dishes on the menu.
The dining room is spacious, yet the seasoned staff at Tony’s know how to create a special, intimate experience for every guest, and you might find that they still recommend the Trio of Veals or the Lobster Albanello for your main course. The bestseller remains the linguine with lobster and shrimp, though, which Bommarito says makes up 18 percent of the total entrées ordered. The menu is rounded out with seasonal plates and elevated by an award-winning wine list and housemade desserts – think lemon-ricotta cheesecake served with macerated strawberries, gluten-free chocolate fudge cake topped with fresh raspberries and biscotti with Vin Santo, an amber-hued dessert wine traditional in Tuscany, Italy.
The lunch menu boasts salads and sandwiches alongside rotating soups, pastas and the catch of the day. There are also a few light entrées, including baked scallops with roasted peppers, tomato and white wine and housemade agnolotti with peas and prosciutto.
